Am I charged if I accidentally download the wrong version of a photo?

No — you're only charged once per photo. Credits are deducted the first time you download a photo, and re-downloading or downloading a different version of the same photo doesn't add any charges.

If you accidentally got the unedited version, downloading the edited version later won't double-charge you. Same applies to any other variant of the same photo.
